The Mercer Island Residence is a thoughtfully designed home that harmoniously integrates with its natural surroundings, leveraging the unique characteristics of its long frontage and densely wooded site to maximize views and natural light. The design concept emphasizes a seamless flow from the front to the rear of the property, with large, strategically placed windows and sliding glass doors offering uninterrupted views of the rear yard and the serene east-facing lake. Functions and space planning are meticulously executed to respond to the site’s orientation, sun direction, and desired views, ensuring that the main living areas capture the evening sunlight and private spaces maintain privacy while still offering glimpses of the surrounding greenery. The master bedroom is strategically positioned to reserve the right for the north-facing lake view, with an extensive deck that becomes an extension of the bedroom space.
